29 Feb 2016 - 04 Mar 2016 Kathmandu, Nepal
SANDEE is organizing a one - week Winter School in Research Methods from February 29 - March 4, 2016 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The objective of this workshop is to help researchers strengthen their analyses, writing and communication skills. The workshop is designed mostly for SANDEE researchers/associates who are doing a project with SANDEE. The workshop will be divided into various segments such as:
a) survey design and sampling;
b) data management;
c) topics in research analyses, including econometrics;
d) literature review and manuscript development and writing.
The Winter School seeks to provide researchers with the skills necessary to understand and analyze data, interpret results, and learn how to write manuscript and communicate the results to the targeted audience effectively.
Who will attend the course?
This Winter School is meant for SANDEE researchers who are working on SANDEE funded research. The ideal participants are SANDEE researchers who need additional skills to analyze the data, develop a manuscript and communicate effectively to the specialized as well as general audience.
What can you expect to do during the course?
The course will cover fundamentals of data management, exploration and analyses, including most frequently used econometric analysis. As this is a residential course, participants will get enough time to interact with faculty and will also learn from the peers while working on their data sets. Participants are asked to bring their own computer and cleaned data set if they have collected data. Participants are expected to conduct statistical analysis using STATA and present results at the end of the workshop. Those who are in early stages of their research will work in teams using data collected by other researchers.
